When the team was launched in October 2011 the original goal was to simply run one car for season 2012.
However, in February 2012 in our driver voting for the first round of the year the winner was Adrian Cottrell, and he happens to have his own car. (the car that he won the championship in last year!). He won all 4 races at the Clipsal 500, and with no surprise he then won the vote for second round at the Bathurst Motor Festival, finishing 2nd on the weekend and is currently tied with Kyle Clews for the championship lead.
So now we have two My Race Team cars in the Aussie Racing Cars super series.
- My Race Team car #1 driven by Adrian Cottrell who is currently tied for the championship heading into round 3 (Car supplied by Cottrell Racing and financed by team founder Sean Slater – hey sponsors! contact me now!)
- My Race Team car #39 Leased from Aussie Racing Cars and paid for with the team’s membership fees under the ‘arrive & drive’ program for Season 2012.
For the Clipsal 500 car #39 was driven by Justin Ruggier and for the Bathurst Motor Festival car #39 was driven by Daniel Flanagan.

The ‘Arrive & Drive’ is great opportunity that allows us to get into the series for a lot less than it would cost traditionally as the Aussie Racing Cars factory takes care of all car maintenance, set-up & tuning plus transportation to and from each race event.
Adrian Cottrell’s car is prepared and transported by his team Cottrell Racing. The same group of people that helped Adrian in his championship winning year last year.
The Aussie Racing Cars series features 5 different types of body shells.
- Classic FJ Holden
- Classic 40 Ford
- Ford Falcon (AU)
- Holden Commodore (VY)
- Toyota Aurion
In February 2012, the team voted with the majority for the Toyota Aurion for season 2012, the team also voted for number #39 for the car. Representing the $39 our membership cost is.
For more information on the technical specifications of the car, have a look at the Aussie Racing Cars website.
